According to the standard, accessories such as footrests, squatting pan traps, floor traps, half-round channels, and shower roses should conform to the precise dimensions depicted in the relevant figures (Figures 2 through 5). Where specific tolerances are not explicitly mentioned, the general dimensional allowances defined in IS 2556 (Part 1):1994 apply. All accessories must be manufactured as a single-piece unit except for the floor trap grating, which may be separate. Additionally, all surfaces exposed to water must have a uniform, smooth glazed finish. Notably, fluting at the base of half-round channels is permitted, and functional dimensions are mandatory for compliance.

The performance criteria for shower roses require installation at a height of 2100 mm from the floor with a minimum water head of 3 meters. Under these conditions, the shower rose must produce a wetting pattern on the floor with a diameter of at least 450 mm to ensure adequate spray coverage. For traps designed for squatting pans, flushing tests must be conducted in accordance with the procedures outlined in IS 2556 Part 3 (1994) to verify effective waste discharge and maintenance of the water seal.

Each vitreous china accessory must bear a clear and permanent marking placed suitably to avoid damage. The marking should include the manufacturer's name or trademark and the batch or lot number to ensure traceability. Additionally, products certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards may bear the BIS Standard Mark, subject to licensing. These markings facilitate quality control, accountability, and verification during inspections.

To guarantee robustness and prevent leakage, accessories must be constructed as one-piece units, with the exception of floor trap gratings which may be separate. All functional surfaces that come into contact with water must have a consistent, smooth glaze to enhance durability and provide water-tightness. The minimum water seal for traps is specified as 20 mm to inhibit backflow. Permissible dimensional tolerances are as per IS 2556 Part 1:1994, and decorative fluting at the bottom of half-round channels is allowed without compromising performance.

IS 2556 Part 7 complements the other parts of the IS 2556 series by focusing specifically on the requirements for accessories used with vitreous sanitary fixtures. It references testing protocols such as the flushing test for traps detailed in IS 2556 Part 3 (1994) and quality control procedures from IS 9140:1996. The standard ensures that accessory dimensions, design features like anti-slip surfaces, and optional fittings align with broader specifications for materials, performance, and certification established in the other parts of IS 2556, thereby promoting harmonized manufacturing and quality assurance across all sanitary appliance components.
